LVHS GRADUATION

Graduation for Ligonier Valley High School seniors will be held at Weller Field on June 3, at 6:00 P.M.  If there is inclement weather, graduation will be held in the high school auditorium at 6:00 P.M., admission by ticket only.  Please contact the high school at 724-238-9531 if you have any questions.

LIGONIER VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL AWARDED SILVER MEDAL BY US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

US News and World Report has announced its 2013 Best High Schools Rankings. The Ligonier Valley High School, located in eastern Westmoreland County, has received its second consecutive Silver Medal.  According to US News and World Report, more than 21,000 high schools across America were analyzed to determine what schools serve all students well using data from the 2010-11 school year.  Criteria include student performance on state assessments, as

well as the degree to which students were prepared to be college-ready.  Nationally, 4,805 high schools were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals.  

 

Of Pennsylvania’s 687 high schools, 168 were awarded a medal by US News.  Nine high schools received gold medals, 60 received silver, and 99 received bronze.  Ligonier Valley, with a national rank of 1756, received a silver medal, ranking 51st in Pennsylvania.  Ligonier Valley High School Principal, Mr. Tim Kantor, has been an administrator at the building since the 2009-10 school year.  He is proud of the achievement and credits the success to the hard work of the students and teachers. 

LHS was previously awarded a silver medal in US News and World Report’s 2012 Rankings. Mr. Bruce Robinson, LVSD Board President thanks the staff, students, parents, and community for their ongoing commitment to the success of the district’s students.  “Receiving this award for two consecutive years reflects the dedication that our entire community has in providing students with a quality education.”
